The leaf is of the tree but the tree isn’t necessarily of the leaf

I’ve emailed almost everyone of significance that I’d assume would be interested in such a ‘discovery’ but unfortunately haven’t heard much back.
Scientists looking for extraterrestrial life in outer space are spending billions of $ looking in the wrong place.
The idea that we’re ‘inside’ a simulation of some sort will only become more and more plausible as time goes on
Is it possible that the reason why we have yet to discover extraterrestrial life in outer-space is because they actually reside within 'inner-space'?
