The morpho butterfly
These colors are not from pigments but microstructures. The scales covering the wings reflect incident light repeatedly at successive layers.
Some South American species are reported as visible to the human eye up to 1km away.
In a typical leaf, there is a large amount of water loss through the stomatas, (small openings on the leaf surface)
This loss is called transpiration, and is accelerated by hotter temperatures
Cacti have modified leaves called spines (not thorns)
